This Saturday, May 23, La Sénia will host the Airfield Commemoration Day, now celebrating its fourteenth edition and firmly established as one of the region’s leading events for historical and aeronautical heritage outreach.
The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Historical Aviation Centre of La Sénia (CAHS) with the official opening ceremony. At 10:00 a.m., the new T12 – AVIOCAR Project will be presented, an initiative focused on the recovery and preservation of aeronautical heritage, which will be one of the main highlights of this year’s edition. Visitors will also have the opportunity to tour the CAHS facilities and discover the collection of aircraft and historical pieces exhibited there.
At 11:00 a.m., a guided visit to the La Sénia Airfield will take place. This historic site is closely linked to the Spanish Civil War and to the democratic memory of the region. At the same time, visitors will be able to enjoy a range of activities related to aviation and historical reenactment. Highlights include the exhibition of an F-18 Hornet fighter jet emulator from the Spanish Air and Space Force, as well as a flight simulator of the AIRBUS A400M transport aircraft. In addition, the event will feature period reenactments by the historical recreation group “Ejército del Ebro”, helping recreate the atmosphere historically associated with the airfield.
The La Sénia Airfield Commemoration Day aims to promote and preserve the town’s historical and aeronautical heritage. For this reason, the organizers invite everyone to take part in this commemorative event, designed to bring history, heritage and aeronautical culture closer to all audiences through educational activities, interactive experiences and historical reenactments in the unique and emblematic setting of the La Sénia Airfield.
